Smart ration cards can help to reduce the time and paperwork involved in the PDS and to make it easier for cardholders to access their entitlements. Itโll also reduce the amount of subsidized food grains that are diverted to the black market. Also, Smart ration cards can help to make the PDS more transparent and to ensure that food grains are distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
The ration card smart card has a microchip that stores information about the cardholder, such as their name, address, and family members. A unique barcode that can be scanned at ration shops to verify the cardholder’s identity and entitlement, and a central database that stores information about all smart ration cards in a state or country.
